Go West Young Man!

Been a while since I've managed some time to get busy here!

This weekend, the lovely and talented Mrs. and I will travel with our kids and her parents to Yellowstone, the Tetons, Mt. Rushmore, Wall Drug, the Corn Palace, and Iowa in that classic American Summer Vacation. I can't wait to get out of the office, clear the cobwebs, see the sights and search the soul while staring down the open road. Seriously!

I'll take the film camera and then spend too much money on processing so that we can remember all this when we're decrepit and try to embarrass the kids at their wedding rehearsal dinners.

In the meantime, enjoy this video of fireworks over Mt Rushmore and I'll post when I get back, if not from on the road!

Sir Paul and Lanny Davis

Well, just a note about some respect for Lanny and none for Paul.

Lanny was on America's Morning News this morning and was upset about Sir Paul slamming a former President while receiving an award, as well as the applause the joke line recieved (that the former president didn't know what a library was, or the inside of one looked like or something).

It was his contention that such a comment in that situtation should have been greeted with stunned silence, as it was very inappropriate for the occasion.

Good on ya, Lanny.

James Madison

If you are having trouble reading the bumpersticker, here's the text:
"I believe there are more instances of the abridgement of the freedom of the people by gradual and silent encroachments of those in power than by violent and sudden usurpations."

I don't feel too obligated to comment, as for me, at least, these words speak for themselves. Let me just say that I think Pres. Madison would be shocked at how much the Federal Government has changed since he wrote those words.
thanks to the flikr user for the link!
